In recent years, tungsten carbide steel has become the material of choice for industrial applications. As small as the tip of a ballpoint pen, as large as a punching machine and a wire drawing die, all the parts can be produced with cemented carbide. Tungsten carbide wire drawing die has the characteristics of high impact toughness, not easy to wear, strong stability and long service life.

1. Polishing Method and Working Principle of TC Wire Drawing Die

Drawing die polishing usually uses oil stone strips, wool wheels, sandpaper, etc. To make the surface of the materials plastically deform and remove the protrusions on the surface of the workpiece to obtain a smooth surface. Generally, manual operations are the main method. The method of ultra-fine grinding and polishing can be used for high surface quality requirements.

2. Tools and Specifications for Tc Die Polishing

The commonly used tools for mold polishing are: sandpaper, oil stone, felt wheel, diamond abrasive paste, alloy file, diamond grinding needle, bamboo chip, fiber oil stone, and circular rotary grinder.
Common specifications:
Sandpaper: 150#, 180#, 320#, 400#, 600#, 800#, 1000#, 1200#, 1500#;
Whetstone: 120#, 220#, 400#, 600#;
Taped wheels: cylindrical, conical, square tip;
Grinding paste: 1# (white) 3# (yellow) 6# (orange) 9# (green) 15# (blue) 25# (brown) 35# (red) 60# (purple);
Files: square, round, flat, triangular and other shapes;
Diamond grinding needle: generally 3/32 shank or 1/8 shank, with circular waveform, cylindrical shape, long straight column shape, long circular cone shape;


3. Factors Affecting Carbide Wire Drawing Die Surface Polishability

4. How to Solve Common Problems in Tc Dies Polishing

Excessive polishing, irregular rough surface of the workpiece 1) Remove the defective surface first before grinding. The grain size of the grinding is slightly coarser than that of the previously used sand number, and the polishing intensity is smaller than that of the previous one.
2) Fire elimination at a temperature lower than 25 ℃, before polishing, use a fine sand number to grind until a satisfactory effect is achieved, and then polish with a lighter force.
"Micro pits" on the surface of the workpiece 1) Carefully regrind the surface. The grain size of the sand is slightly coarser than that used before. Use a soft and sharpened whetstone for the next step of grinding before proceeding to the polishing process.
