Carbide Drawing Dies

Time:2023-06-16 09:55:08Hits:
The cemented carbide wire drawing die is sintered at high temperature by high-temperature sintering of extremely fine particles of refractory metal tungsten carbide and manganese, titanium and other metal powders with auxiliary metal cobalt as binder. Commonly known as "tungsten steel die", "tungsten steel wire drawing die" or "alloy die", etc., due to the production method, this alloy still maintains the original valuable characteristics of tungsten carbide. Its hardness is close to that of diamond, and at the same time, due to the presence of cobalt as a binder, it has toughness. The main characteristics of the cemented carbide drawing die are: high, excellent polishing, small adhesion to the drawn metal, small friction coefficient, high thermal conductivity, good performance, etc. Compared with diamond molds and polycrystalline molds, etc. Affordable, very suitable for drawing various ferrous metals, non-ferrous metals and their alloys, rods and pipes, as well as various cold headings, straight rods, squares, hexagons, flat wires and various standard molds.

The role of each part of the cemented carbide wire drawing die:
1. Entrance area: The transition from the entrance area to the working area is generally a circular arc, which is convenient for the drawn material to enter the working area without being scratched by the edge of the die hole.

2. Lubricating area: Its function is to store lubricant and lubricate the drawn material, which is beneficial to the smooth progress of the drawing process.

3. Working area: It is the plastic deformation area of metal stretching. The selection of this area is mainly the length and cone angle. If the length is too small, the stretched metal will exert excessive pressure on the working area of the mold, and the tensile stress will increase significantly, resulting in accelerated wear of the mold, which will reduce the compression and elongation cross-sectional area of the drawn metal wire; the working area The length of the wire varies with the drawn material and its diameter and lubrication. The selection principle is: 1) When drawing a soft metal wire, it should be shorter than when drawing a hard metal wire; 2) When drawing a small diameter wire, it should be shorter than a large diameter wire. The wire is short, 3) When wet lubricated stretching, it should be shorter than dry lubricated stretching. Working cone angle: When drawing steel, the working cone angle should be smaller, while when drawing non-ferrous metals and their alloys, the working cone angle should be larger.

4. Sizing area: The final size of the stretched product passes through the sizing area. The length of the sizing area varies depending on the hardness, cross-sectional area and lubrication of the drawn material; if it is too long, friction will increase during the drawing process If the die temperature rises, it will affect the life of the die. At the same time, it will also increase the tensile stress, the rate of wire breakage during stretching will increase, and the power consumption will also increase; if the sizing area is too long, when the working cone changes during stretching It will affect the size of drawn products; generally, the drawing of soft metal materials is shorter than that of hard metal materials, the drawing of large diameter materials is shorter than that of small diameter materials, and the wet drawing is shorter than dry drawing.

5. Exit area and exit cone angle: the exit area is the part through which the drawn material passes after leaving the die hole, which protects the sizing area from cracking; the exit cone angle is used to prevent the stretched metal from scratching the sizing area The quality of the outlet is affected by the outlet, the outlet area should not be too short, otherwise, the outlet end of the mold is easy to break; when manufacturing the mold, the sharp edge of the connection part between the outlet area and the sizing area is ground to make it a circular arc transition, so as to When the wire passes through, it will not be scratched.
